MAUI TACOS opened in 1993 as a surf shack on Maui serving traditional Mexican food fused with an irresistible Hawaiian accent. The original menu was created by Hawaiian celebrity chef Mark Ellman who labeled his original creations Maui-Mex. At first the clientele was local, but as its reputation for bold and unique tastes and exotic flavors spread, pro-surfers, island hopers and jetsetters crowded in. Today it's said that "you haven't been to Maui if you haven't eaten at Maui Tacos".
The MAUI TACOS concept is simple - fuse the bold tastes of Mexico with the exotic flavors of Hawaii, serve everything fresh, healthy and in a cool, laid-back atmosphere, and always in the spirit of Aloha - or what we call "Mauitude".
